"Close by"
The Lindum is a family-run hotel with an emphasis on comfort and service. It is also one of the few central hotels to have ample on-site car parking and is situated in the heart of Torquay, within easy walking distance of many of the resort's main tourist attractions, some of which are featured below.
Torre Abbey Sands and the Torquay Marina
Digging and paddling or swimming from the safe and gently sloping beach of Torre Abbey Sands is what beach holidays are all about. Regular ferry services cross the Bay from the Marina and are a wonderful way of getting to see the adjacent towns of Paignton and Brixham, as well as the picturesque port of Dartmouth.
Princess Theatre and Princess Pier
The theatre overlooks the Marina and is just a short walk away from the hotel. A busy all-year programme features many of today's top celebrities and great West End shows like Phantom of the Opera or Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. A walk along the pier takes you right to the mouth of the harbour and provides a wonderful view of the splendid craft that lie moored there.
Cockington Country Park
This famous thatched village with its lovely walks through woodlands and ornamental grounds, the Cockington Court Craft Centre, the forge and its resident blacksmith provide a longer excursion on foot from the hotel.
Torre Abbey
The Abbey, founded in 1196, is very close by and today houses an art collection and an Agatha Christie memorial room. Bowls, tennis and pitch & putt golf are facilities open to the public in the pleasant gardens of the Abbey.
The Riviera Centre
For indoor fun, this centre is just the place to visit. A short walk from the hotel, it houses the popular Waves Leisure Pool, complete with flume ride and wave machine, as well as a fully equipped gym and sauna. Drinks and a bite to eat are available from Neptune's Galley and the Bay Brasserie restaurant. Regular shows like regional brass band competitions and boxing tournaments also take place from time to time at this busy venue.
